I glanced back at Alissi and choked again, bringing my wrist up to my mouth to try to block the awful gasping sounds I was making.

I blinked back tears and stared at him dully. There wasn’t anyone else to listen to and I certainly didn’t know what I was doing, so if he wanted me to listen to him, then I would.

I had thought Alissi was the pushy one between the two of them. Boy, was I wrong about that.
